Anatomy and Physiology for Healers
Five introductory half-day workshops
As the frequency of spirit becomes denser it manifests through the mental and emotional fields and eventually into the physical world of matter. These fields are integrated, inseparable and influence each other. Imbalances within our body/mind can produce symptoms in any of these fields. Understanding anatomical concepts will give you a clear image and a sense of grounding in the body that supports your healing work. It will also give you a common language when communicating with other health professionals.
What can I expect to learn?
Over the course of five workshops you will be learn about the structures and functions of the 11 body systems. You will be introduced to the concept of homeostasis and how the body maintains balance. There will references to a holistic view of the body with some energy exercises that can be integrated into a healing practice.
Workshop 1 (W1): An orientation of the body
Introduction to the skeletal and muscular system and how we ‘ground’ ourselves through our skeleton and hold personal stories in our muscle memory.
Workshop 2 (W2): The Boundaries of the body
We will look at the respiratory and integumentary (skin) systems to demonstrate the importance of our structural boundaries and their permeability.
Workshop 3 (W3): What is metabolism?
How do we provide nourishment for our body? The systems we focus on are the digestive and cardiovascular systems to see how the food we take in reaches every cell.
Workshop 4 (W4): Homeostasis and self-regulation
We will look at the nervous and endocrine systems and see how they work together to give us the ability to self-regulate to maintain a healthy balance.
Workshop 5 (W5): The fluids of the body
We cover the lymphatic system in more detail and look at the combined fluidity of all the body fluids to provide us with a sense of integration and unity.
